I like to attract self-invented people. People who are always growing and becoming more. Most of my friends are mega talented, but you would never know it.  You will have to find that out about them because they don’t wear self-importance on their sleeve.  My closest friends and associates are private like me. That’s why we get along so well.

Unfortunately, I don’t take many pictures, so I have very few to post all over Facebook and the like. It’s old friends and acquaintances that have given me the few that I have. Yes, I’m a minimalist too.  Hopefully, the few pics below will suffice.

I hope you enjoy my posts and I look forward to corresponding back and forth with you. Since I tend to be a visual person I’ve provided a picture story of who I am and where I’ve been.

Warmest regards,

Winter Haven High Drumline

I’m from the town of Winter Haven, Florida. I was raised in a county that has over 60 lakes. You can’t drive anywhere in town without running into a lake. I was a Blue Devil drummer (yes, a band geek). I loved it. One of my first major challenges in life was when a Jr. high music director told me I would never make the high school percussion line because I was self taught and had no formal training. The picture is my sophomore year in the drumline. I’m the little one in front.

Osan Korea, compliments of perezstudios.com

My first military assignment was Osan AB, Korea. I walked down the streets of this shop outside the base many times. One surreal day as I was walking I heard an old Korean folk medley and recognized it as a song we played in Jr. high school orchestra. I was an aircraft weapons specialist in the 51st AGS. An experience of challenges and fun I’ll never forget.

Langley AFB

At my next assignment my barracks had a front row view of the flight line where I worked. I would sit in my window and watch the F15 fighter jets take off and land at night. The F15 afterburners at night were always an awesome sight.

I actually volunteered to leave the luxury of Langley to go out west to the dust of Alamogordo New Mexico. It was said that no one gives up a posh assignment like Langley for this dust bowl. But, I loved it!  I always wanted to go west and they were the only base that had an opening. I have some of the best times there. Since there wasn’t much to do in town, I spent hours each day working out in the gym. That started a completely new page in life and a career I never imagined I would have. I soon became a base fitness trainer and a competitive bodybuilder.

1984 Florida bodybuilding championship

Because I was always hanging out around the gym, a couple of the guys convinced me to start competing in fitness contests. It was horribly frightening at first but as everything else, I put all I had into it and began winning bodybuilding and powerlifting tournaments. I learned how to workout from fitness magazines and workout partners, but it was when I joined the team at All American Gym in Lakeland, Florida that I really learned how to be a true champion.

Me and Noelle in Atlanta Office

Through several tests of spirit in life and business, trial marketing companies, stockbroker school, many career changes and so on, I end up working with Noelle Kim at a financial marketing company. In 2003 we built a team that grew so wild and fast we couldn’t contain it. We didn’t have enough people to go out on all of the recruiting and sales appointments. I took a much needed break. In 2011 after a couple of trial runs with a few competitive companies, and now armed with my own online marketing business I returned to where I had been most successful.

Multnomah Falls, Oregon

When I’m not working or studying, I am enjoying the scenery of the place I call home, Portland, Oregon. There’s nothing like a place where you can hike into the mountains and spend a couple of hours reflecting. What’s cool is I actually took this pic with my camera phone. It’s the sound and the magnitude of all the water rushing to the ground that’s really astonishing.
